- Is RingTally really free?
- Yes. The Free plan costs nothing and never expires — it's not a trial. You get up to 10 vendors, unlimited expenses, and all the core tracking features. Upgrade to Pro only if you need more.
- How is RingTally different from a spreadsheet?
- A spreadsheet doesn't alert you before a deposit is due, can't track which family members are paying for what, and breaks the moment your partner edits it at the same time. RingTally is built specifically for wedding budgets — with real-time sync, payer tracking, and payment reminders built in.
- Can I use RingTally with my partner?
- Yes — that's what the Pro plan is for. Both of you get full access to the same budget in real time. Any change either of you makes is instantly visible to the other.
- How does multi-payer tracking work?
- On Pro, you can create payers (e.g., "Us", "Her Parents", "His Family") and assign any expense or line item to a payer. RingTally shows you a live breakdown of who has committed to covering what, so you always know if there's a funding gap.
- How does the contingency buffer work?
- You set aside a percentage of your total budget — anywhere from 0 to 20% — as a reserve for unexpected costs. That amount is subtracted from your available balance so you're never tempted to spend it. On Pro, you get a live status indicator (safe, partially used, or consumed) and an alert if your spending eats into the reserve.
- Can I plan multiple events — like a rehearsal dinner and reception — separately?
- Yes, on Pro. You can create up to 8 named events in Settings → Events (rehearsal dinner, ceremony, reception, farewell brunch, etc.) and assign any vendor to an event. Your dashboard shows a per-event cost breakdown so you can see how spending is split across each part of your wedding.
- Can my parents see the budget?
- On Pro, you can generate a read-only sharing link and optionally protect it with a password. Anyone with the link can view the budget — no account required.
- Does RingTally connect to my bank account?
- No. RingTally is a manual budgeting tool — you enter amounts yourself. This keeps your financial data private and gives you a clear picture of what's planned vs. what's been paid.
- What happens to my data if I cancel?
- Your account reverts to the Free plan at the end of your billing period. Your data is never deleted — you'll just be limited to 10 vendors again until you upgrade.
- Is there a mobile app?
- RingTally is a mobile-optimized web app that works great on any phone or tablet — no download required. A native app may come in the future.
